WELCOME TO THE BREMERTON FOODLINE (BFL)

As is true across our country, the need for food  is increasing dramatically as individuals face the difficult choice between food and housing, food and medicine, food and childcare…food and heat.  Bremerton Foodline (BFL) eases the burden of that choice just a bit by providing a much needed emergency safety net.  Our work is possible thanks to the support of our wonderful volunteers and donations from individuals, businesses, churches and community organizations.  Only working together can we alleviate the pain of hunger for our neighbors!

If you need help or know someone that needs help please see our Need Help? page for valuable information, or contact us at BFL (see contact info below).

BFL AND COMMUNITY NEWS

CLOSURE INFO -  As a rule of thumb, if the Bremerton Schools are closed for weather, so will the Foodline. Call our reg. number 360-479-6188 when in doubt.

SEVERE WEATHER SHELTERING – The Foodline in conjunction with the Kitsap County Dept of Emergency Management are now providing severe weather sheltering at the Foodline facility.  Go to http://www.kitsapdem.org/ for the latest information regarding specific times and places. This information is also provided at the Foodline facility, the Salvation Army and on Sally Santana’s blog:  “Side Street News”.

There is a greater need than ever for warm clothing, tents, sleeping bags, etc. See our “Who Are the Homeless” page.

The Foodline continues to assist local ministries in feeding the homeless by providing grocery bags of food. We also need donations of these specific items for the Homeless Bags -   Canned Stew or Chili, Canned vegetables, Tuna, Peanut Butter, Beverages (single serve), Top Ramen or Cup O Noodles, Granola/Snack bars.  Now is a great time to help your community.

CFC – For those that donate via the Combined Federal Campaign please remember to specify the Bremerton Foodline for your donation. Thank you.

The Foodline needs volunteers. Because of recent state budget cut-backs the numbers of volunteers we get from Kitsap Community Resources is way down. We handle lots of food each day and serve many clients. We need volunteers in many areas. Contact us if you might consider volunteering, even for one day a week. See contact info below.

Register to Vote – Yes your vote counts. Recently we have seen a number of recount elections which were won by just a few votes one way or the other. So take advantage of one of our precious freedoms and register and vote.  Staff at The Salvation Army (downtown Bremerton) will register and/or take change of addresses for voters the week of June 20 thru 24, 10 am to 4 pm.(see flyer for details).
Bremerton Rescue Mission serves lunch most Tuesdays from 12:45 pm to 1:15 pm in the Foodline parking lot. There is no charge for lunch although donations are accepted. Note: The date and times may vary. The current schedule will be posted in the Foodline lobby. For more information about Bremerton Rescue Mission visit their website at BremRescue.org.
